Let's Talk Over Coffee
Is it really happening?
One day, about four years ago, I dreamed about having a table, an espresso machine, Café Jesús Martín coffee, and a group of people I love around me. Today, I can say that I am one step closer to that dream. I have a table, I have an espresso machine, I have Café Jesús Martín coffee, and I have people around me who have given me unconditional support.
As I sit here in the lobby of the hotel where my “pop-up coffee shop” currently stands, I think about our journey. I experience highs and lows, slow moments and random rushes, frustration and peace. While I type the words I can picture moments in which I felt these things and I smile to myself thinking I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I also think about how it’s pretty frigging cool when people ask, “is this your business?” I answer shyly but proudly “yes, this is my baby.” M.A.S. Café is not only mine, but my brothers (who I wouldn't be able to do this without), my family’s, yours, ours to share, to enjoy, and to remember.
Now, it’s only been a week. Let’s not get carried away. I’ve had a few ‘proud of myself’ moments here and there but then I’m like man, I need to sell A LOT more coffee than this. Though, I don’t think about that much. I think about the experience I’m providing, my belief behind the story I’m telling, and the culture I’m creating in the city where I grew up full of dreams. For me, that’s being successful. It’s more than money, more than coffee, more than the social media likes. It’s connecting with others and cultivating humanity in our own way. Quality not quantity (see, I did learn something from business school).
I’m super stoked to be experiencing these special moments with all of you and want to take time to be able to thank those who have supported me since day one and continue to support me and stay by my side throughout the ride.
Mucho amor for all of you.
M.A.S. Café is now open at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa in Weston, FL. Proudly serving Café Jesús Martín. Let's talk over coffee! :)
